The full name's gabriel adam schorr, but most people call me gabe. In case you couldn't tell, I'm a handsome young man. I came into this world kicking and screaming on december eighteenth, and almost eighteen years later, I still haven't stopped. Back then, I lived in San Francisco, California. I'm a Jew dealing with the stress of twelfth grade.
eyes :: Gabriel's dark brown eyes are extremely expressive. Want to know exactly how he's feeling? Take a look at his eyes, and you'll be able to tell. A majority of the time, they're sparkling with warmth and laughter, and always focused so intently on whoever's talking to him that the other person feels like they're the only important thing around at that particular moment.
nose :: Gabriel's nose is perfectly straight, and on the long side. It is also, unfortunately, a bit wider than he would like, though his mother claims that most noses look like his. The bridge of his nose is quite small, so it's always a disappointment for him when he looks in the mirror and sees the way it widens down towards the end.
hair :: Gabriel's hair is such a dark brown it looks black in certain light. He keeps it anywhere from short to medium length, a look he can only pull off because he got lucky and ended up with his dad's straight hair rather than his mom's curly hair. He let it grow out clear to his shoulders once his freshman year, and after discovering what a disastrous idea that had been, he became almost obsessive in his need to keep his hair at an acceptable length. When it's in its longer stage, he usually keeps it combed back out of his face; he doesn't get what girls find so fascinating about guys who let their hair hang in their eyes in such a manner that they're constantly tossing their head like an impatient horse in order to keep their sight unobstructed. That doesn't mean he slicks his hair back 24/7, however - every once in a while, he'll play around with it and shape it into some ridiculous hair style, or just let it hang free and do what it wants.
face :: Gabriel has an oval shaped face that tends to look slimmer or squarer depending on his current hair style and whether or not he's sporting facial hair. His eyebrows are normal guy eyebrows ( aka, au naturel ), and every day, he is thankful that two bushy caterpillars don't reside above his eyes. He had the misfortune of inheriting his father's high, wide forehead and ears that stuck slightly outward rather than laying flat against his head, but he gained his average sized nose and dimples from his mother, so he doesn't care too much about the former of his physical traits. His lips are on the thin side, and the corners of his mouth are almost always curled into a smile, or at least the beginnings of one.
body :: Gabriel stands at a short five foot ten inches. Short when you consider that every last male in the Schorr family measures at over six foot three, that is. He's a wiry young man, all muscle and no fat, but it's not apparent at first glance, since he doesn't look bulky or overly-built. Like every other teenage boy on the planet, he's blessed with a high metabolism, and growing up in a family as large as his more or less took care of the physical aspect of staying fit. His skin is a creamy, light tan that never gets any darker or lighter, even when he spends months in the sun or months holed up indoors. Of course, he stays indoors during the summer, and outdoors during the fall and winter, so it's really not that much of a surprise that his skin stays the same shade.
likes :: the smell of the ocean, surfing, the way fog looks rolling across the San Francisco Bay, the cold, snow, Italian food, people with accents, baseball, cigarettes ( even though he knows smoking is a bad habit ), working out, charming people, playing with girls' hair, harassing his baby sister Lilith, social gatherings of any kind, dressing nice
dislikes :: the heat, football, over eating, being by himself with nothing to do, the smell of manure, health food, rain, someone playing with his hair without his express permission, going out dressed like a slob, people who can't speak proper English, skateboarding ( don't ask ), the sky when it's dark with rain clouds, alcohol of any kind, being bullied into doing something by his brother's David and Ruben, not being able to charm someone
habits :: smoking ( obviously ), chewing on pen caps, saying "What?" every time someone asks him a question and then answering said question, staring at people without realizing it, looking someone in the eye when he's talking to them ( if he doesn't, he's either lying to them, or he doesn't like them )
flaws :: short-tempered, manipulative, outright cold to people he doesn't like, mildly obsessive-compulsive, doesn't know when to shut up
positive attributes :: cheerful, friendly, intelligent, charming, compassionate
secret(s) :: Gabriel is terrified of doing anything remotely artistic ( e.g., music, theater, art, etc ), not because he's horrible at it, but because he's damn good, and he hates the "unnecessary" attention that his skills earn him.
pet peeve(s) :: people who are full of themselves for no good reason, know-it-alls who only share their knowledge when it serves to embarrass and/or make someone look stupid, rich, spoilt b*tches and b*stards
personality :: Gabriel is one of those rare, "weird" guys you find every so often - y'know, the ones that don't mind actually displaying emotion rather than playing it cool all the time. He'll do anything to cheer up or help out a friend, though it usually doesn't take much; he's the kind of person who just has to smile in order to make someone feel like everything's going to be alright. Nine times out of ten, you'll find him smiling and laughing with an ease that's impossible to fake. That doesn't mean he's one of those annoying, constantly happy people, though. If Gabe is upset or doesn't like someone, everybody knows it. Treat him like crap or mess with one of his friends, and he won't hesitate to return the favor ten-fold. At best, he's stiff and formal, his tone cool and his face practically impassive. At worst, he's outright rude and hostile, his detest for the person evident on his face and in his voice. That is, unless he thinks they might be of some use to him. Gabriel is a naturally charming person, after all, and every so often, he uses his skill for evil and manipulates people into doing things for he or his friends. The kicker is that the people being manipulated don't even know that's what's happening.
mother :: Talia Schorr, forty-six, stay at home mom
father :: David Schorr, forty-eight, Anthropology professor at the University of Chicago
brothers :: David Schorr Jr., twenty-four, Marine
Ruben Schorr, twenty-one, college junior
sister :: Lilith Schorr, fourteen, high school freshman
step-relations: :: n/a
other relatives :: n/a ( the rest of the Schorr family still resides in California )
pets :: Doritos, Lilith's Australian Mist
Poptart, Gabriel's Bengal
Taffy, Ruben's Golden Retriever
Skittles, David Jr's German Shepherd
background check :: Gabriel was born in the wee hours of the morning on December eighteenth, one of the coldest days San Francisco saw that month. He was Talia and David's third son, and by then, they pretty much had the whole raising a boy thing down pat. His older brother's David Jr. and Ruben liked to terrorize him from time to time growing up, but anything more than normal brotherly terrorization. In short, the first four years of Gabriel's life were boring. And then Talia had another baby - a girl this time. The world flipped upside down for the three Schorr boys, but in a good way. Lilith was without a doubt the cutest thing any of them had ever seen, and they took it upon themselves to spoil her rotten, rushing to her aid whenever she so much as whimpered. Once she was old enough, she figured out how to tell her brothers off when she didn't want them coddling her. It didn't stop David Jr. or Ruben, but Gabriel learned to read his baby sister and knew when she wanted attention and when she wanted to be left alone. Over time, he developed the skill and learned how to read the people around him as well, which ended up earning him a lot of loyal friends.
Fast forward to the end of Gabriel's sophomore year of high school. All his preteen and teen years, the only thing he had known was California beaches, surfing, and the smell of salty air. Two days after his brother Ruben's graduation, Talia and David sat Gabe and his three siblings down and explained that David had gotten a really good job offer, and they were moving to Chicago. Unlike Lilith and his two older brothers, Gabriel didn't kick up a fuss - he understood that his dad's job meant a lot to him, and that being offered a teaching position in the Anthropology department at the University of Chicago ( as opposed to asking for one ) was a really big freakin deal. While the other Schorr kids dug in their heels and whined and complained, Gabe obediently helped his parents pack up their home the best he could. His amazing friends threw him a huge beach party his last night in San Francisco, all of them promising to call at least once a week and keep him updated on everything. Still, despite being resigned to the move, Gabriel left behind his beloved California with a heavy heart. He settled into life in Chicago ( and student life at Lumini ) easily enough, though he still misses the surfing and constant sunshine from time to time. It's been a year since the move, and he's looking forward to his senior year of high school. After all that went down last year, things can only get more interesting from here on out.
role play sample ::"Jeezus Lil, come on! If you don't hurry, we're going to be late for class!" Gabriel hollered up the stairs, smirking in satisfaction when he heard a thump and a muffled curse. His baby sister swore like a sailor, and it was all David Jr.'s fault. Not that he minded - Lilith was a tiny little thing, but she had fire and spunk, and she could beat up guys twice her size thanks to her three older brothers. "Why protect them when you can teach them to protect themselves?" was the Schorr boys' motto. A door upstairs slammed, and seconds later, Gabriel found himself with an armful of his baby sister. She always jumped from the top of the stairs when they were running late, so catching her was second nature for him. Grinning, he set Lilith down and raced her out the front door to his car. "Have a good day guys!" Their mother shouted after them, and he could almost imagine her standing in the doorway smiling and shaking her head at her children's' antics.
Gabriel backed out of the driveway, then threw his car into "Drive" and punched the gas, making his sister shriek in mock fear as the car jumped forward, tires squealing against the asphalt. It was something he did simply because he knew Lilith secretly loved when her normally sedate and well-behaved big brother acted out of character. While she fiddled with the radio, he drove through Jack in the Box and picked up breakfast for the two of them. Lil didn't even flinch when Gabriel started driving one handed so he could eat his eggrolls on the way to school, which made him smile. For the longest time, his baby sister had had absolutely no faith in his multitasking skills, and even though she had learned to trust him ages ago, he still liked to tease her about it every once in a while. The fifteen minute drive to Lumini was over in a flash ( like always ). Pulling into the senior parking lot - not even an optimistic person like Gabriel expected high school seniors to share the same parking lot as the lowerclassmen - he eased his car into his spot, then hopped out and circled around to the passenger side so that he could open Lilith's door.
His baby sister grinned and playfully whacked his arm, as usual. Making sure she had everything she needed out of his car, he slung the strap of his messenger bag over his shoulder, then tucked Lil's arm in his and walked her to the front doors of the school. Once there, she pulled free of Gabriel's grasp and joined her group of friends hovering just outside the door. He gave her a small wave and then joined his own friends. "We thought you were going to be late again, Gabe." Serena Adams, his friend Thomas' girlfriend, chirped. Always straight to the point, Rena was. Grinning, the eighteen year old reached out and grabbed her hand, affecting a wide-eyed look. "Did you miss me that much, Serena darling?" Gabriel asked, dropping Serena's hand and ducking just in time to miss the swat aimed for his head. The bell rang, saving him from further abuse attempts, and he turned, looking for his sister. "See you after school Lil!" He shouted, receiving a thumbs up in answer.
