Jenna Caitrin Aiken
[[sixteen, sophomore, bookworm/techie/musician]]
FULL NAME;; Jenna Caitrin ( KAYT-reen ) Aiken
NICKNAMES;; Jen, Kayt
GENDER;; Female
DATE OF BIRTH;; July 17th
AGE;; Sixteen
HOMETOWN;; Dublin, Ireland
ETHINICITY;; Half Irish, Half German
GRADE;; Tenth
FACE CLAIM;; Kate Bosworth ♥
EYES;; Jenna has what's called Heterochromia Iridium - in her case, one eye is blue, while the other is hazel. That aside, despite the fact that she seems to be rather shy at first glance, she can silence even the most popular of students with one look, a feat that no one else at Lumini has every been able to accomplish. The reason why is something we'll get into later.
NOSE;; As far as noses go, hers is rather average. It's straight, and perhaps a little on the small side, but other than that, there's not much that's interesting about her nose.
HAIR;; Jenna's hair is the kind that most girls would kill for - it's naturally curly, but she finds that it's quite easy to style it just about any way she wants. She tried dying her blonde hair brunette once, but didn't like it too much, and decided to instead express herself through how she styles her hair, not what color it is.
FACE IN GENERAL;; Jenna's eyes are without a doubt the most captivating part of her face. Her lips, much like her nose, are fairly average, and though her older sister often teases her because she didn't inherit her mother's full, pouty mouth, she could honestly care less. She did, however, inherit the rest of her mother's looks - because of this, she looks older than her sixteen years, though not by much, thankfully. Her heart shaped face, when coupled with the features upon it, has made her the object of both ridicule ( from the girls ) and lust ( from the boys ).
BODY IN GENERAL;; Jenna stands at approximately 5'5", which is average for a girl her age. She doesn't like being on the vertically challenged side of things, but being short does have some major advantages, like the ability to go unnoticed unless you want people to know you're around. Stuck in that awkward phase of life called puberty, she's still growing into her own body, though the promise of things to come ( like actual curves *gasp* ) is there, hidden beneath her lithe, slender figure. Though she prefers books and her computer to sports and the outdoors, Jenna still manages to be rather well-muscled from all the dancing she does; her near-perfect posture is also a by-product of the dancing lessons she's been taking since she was six. Her body is well-proportioned ( thank god ), and she carries herself with the innate grace of a natural dancer, something that makes her stand out from the rest of the sixteen and seventeen year old girls at Lumini High School.
Everything about her is slim and slender, though it's obvious that she's not weak - in fact, Jenna's been in her fair share of fights ( real fights with punching and kicking, mind you, not that weak slapping and scratching sh!t ), so it's not a secret that she can hold her own in a fair fight. Her hands might be described as 'cute' or 'perfect' if not for the calluses that decorate her fingertips, but since she loves playing guitar, she doesn't mind that her hands aren't as pretty as they could be. Because she doesn't go outside any more than she has to, Jenna's skin is merely a pale tan, and it doesn't get much darker. She could probably gain a fairly good tan if she tried hard enough, but she ended up with her mother's Irish complexion, meaning she burns rather quickly - and quite badly - if she's not careful. Jenna's skin is free of marks and blemishes, save the butterfly tattooed on her right shoulder, and the Celtic moon tattooed on her left hip.
As far as clothing/style of dress go...there's a reason it's insanely easy for her to blend in no matter where she is. The youngest of three ( she's the third xP ), Jenna isridiculouslyspoiled by her parents and both sets of grandparents, which means her closet is stuffed full of all different styles of clothing. Her favorite style, by far, is scene-punk. Not only can she do pretty much whatever she wants with that particular style, but a majority of the students at Lumini dress the same way. She adds her own personal touches to everything she wears, too, so despite the fact that she's dressed in a similar fashion as her peers, Jenna still manages to set herself apart from them. The intensity of her outfit usually depends on her mood, so you could see her wearing something subdued one day, like skinny jeans and Converse and a bright blue sweater, and the next, she's wearing some band's shirt with ripped jeans and boots. Accessories are a big part of her outfits as well, and she likes to wear her jewelry in a rather haphazard fashion that somehow always works.
PERSONALITY;;[/blockquote]
"Smart" doesn't even begin to cover it when it comes to this girl. Jenna has what most refer to as the "IQ of a genius" - she also has a sharp tongue and quick wit, and most of what she says leaves people blinking at her in confusion. By the time she was eleven, she possessed an extensive vocabulary far beyond that of a "normal" child her age, and these days, she will not hesitate to use said vocabulary if the need arises - or if she's bored and wants to find amusement in the confused looks people often give her.
If you were to ask the other students at Lumini to describe the blond sixteen year old, you might gets words like "cold", "ruthless", and "paranoid". She keeps to herself unless called on in class, cuts down students who get on her nerves without batting an eyelash, hardly ever shows an emotion other than impassiveness or annoyance on her face, and questions anyone who's kind to her of their own volition. Jenna doesn't have any friends ( or even acquaintances, for that matter ), and it seems that she likes it that way. She gives off this vibe that says she could care less what other people think about her, and it's true; these days, she prefers the company of books and her computer to that of people who would take her friendship for granted. But it hasn't always been that way.
Buried deep, deep down below the surface is a happy, bubbly, outgoing girl just waiting for someone to pull her up from the depths. Jenna was about nine before she began to truly understand how different she was from other kids her age. When she was little, she was a social butterfly, and made friends with anyone and everyone. Though years of being idolized, avoided, and taken advantage of have shaped her into the teenager she is now, her original personality is still there, anticipating the arrival of someone special enough to melt the ice around her wounded heart. Every once in a while, when Jenna knows ( or thinks ) she's absolutely alone, it bobs up to the surface, but it doesn't usually last for long. Anyone who manages to catch a glimpse of her during one of those rare moments is luckier than they realize.
LIKES;; dancing ( especially in the rain ), musical improvisation, reading, handsome boys, going to concerts and ( 16+ ) clubs, poetry, beaches, gardens, most flowers, watching the sunset/sunrise, telling/hearing good jokes, pulling pranks on people, dark colors, chocolate ( of course ), playing the piano or guitar, watermelon bubblegum, hacking into places for fun, writing code, the fashion world and fashion in general, anything else to do with music
DISLIKES;; being interrupted, having someone tell her she's stupid or doesn't know what she's talking about, being looked down on/underestimated, people who do mean things for fun, getting into trouble, most vegetables, being told what to do, guys who are proud of being a 'playa', physical contact, hot weather - she hates being all sticky and sweaty, preppy girls who try way too hard, nauseatingly bright colors, social gatherings where she has to interact with other people, being stared at - it's just creepy, people who try to act like they know her, letting other people see her true self, classical music - it puts her to sleep, overly-loud people, not being able to create drama, bad music
HABITS;; humming or singing quietly to herself when she's deep in thought, running her hands through her hair when she's nervous or upset, writing code and hacking random things ( firewalls, databases, et cetera ) when she's bored, muttering under her breath when she's frustrated, doing something with her hands - tapping, doodling, et cetera - when she's anxious or nervous
FLAWS;; known to hold grudges for ages, constantly falls for the wrong guy, doesn't back down from a fight no matter how bad the odds, refuses to trust anyone outside of her family, has the odd tendency of using her skills to blackmail people who piss her off
SECRETS;; she's terrified of spiders, she acts cold and distant 99.9% of the time, but that's not her true personality, she was in love with Lorcan, until he got what he wanted and then promptly dumped her
STREGNTHS;; has the ability to blend in no matter where she is, extremely intelligent ( she has an IQ of approximately 155 ), an eloquent speaker when she actually feels like talking
WEAKNESSES;; her intelligence - most people want nothing to do with her because she "makes them look bad", guys and their sweet talk ( how else d'ya think Lorcan managed to get with her? ), she doesn't trust anyone, so it's nearly impossible for her to make friends
PET PEEVE;; Being under-ficking-estimated just because she's short and blond.

BACKGROUND STORY;;
Jenna came into the world in the wee hours of the night on July 17, 1993, and was Gwynn and Nicholas Aiken's third and final daughter. She was never fussy as a baby, and spent most of her time cooing happily at anyone who would give her attention - something her parents and her two older sisters Tilly and Felicia were more than happy to do. With wide eyes, she watched the world around her, her curiosity growing as she did. In those first few years, it seemed like Ireland really was the perfect place for a kid to grow up.
She said her first word at six months, and could carry on an actual conversation with adults at eighteen months - her favorite questions were "Why?" and "How?". It was obvious to her entire family that she was going to be an extremely intelligent young woman when she grew up. When she started kindergarten, it became clear exactly how smart Jenna was, and her parents ( at her teacher's suggestion ) sent her to take an IQ test. The woman administering the test was blown away by the results, and suggested that Jenna take classes at the fifth grade level. Her parents, however, refused, stating that they wanted their little girl to grow up as normally as possible, even if it meant that they would need to give her extra work at home to keep her interested in school.
Growing up the youngest of three girls can be either easy or hard. Lucky for Jenna, it was easy. Not only did she have two older sisters, but her cousins ( all six of them - two on her mom's side and four on her dad's ) were all older than her, making her the baby of her generation. Because of this, she was spoiled by her parents and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Fortunately, all of the attention didn't go to her head, and she didn't turn out to be a spoilt brat. It helped that she had Tilly and Felicia to "keep her in line". The two older girls loved having a younger sister to play with, but unlike the adults, they had a zero-tolerance policy when it came to Jenna, and they didn't put up with her when she acted like a brat. Since she loved having Tilly and Felicia's attention, she quickly learned that being a little sh!t when things didn't go her way wasn't the way to go.
Things didn't start to change until she hit third grade, when kids started taking advantage of the fact that she was smart. Eight and nine year olds can be crueler than most people think, and when Jenna began to realize that some kids only wanted to be her friend so they could get something out of it, her personality began to change. In less than a year, she went from happy, bubbly, and outgoing to quiet, withdraw, and untrusting. She went through elementary and middle school that way, and every year, her true personality was pushed deeper and deeper down. Then, when she was twelve, her parents decided to pick up and move - to the United States. It was where all of their extended family lived, after all; why they were the last ones to leave Ireland, Jenna will never know or understand. Everyone else was excited about the new start they would have in Chicago, but she wasn't.
And then she met her cousin Nathaniel. With his encouragement ( as misguided as some might see it ), some of her original personality started to resurface. If not for him, she might never have shown an interest in using her intelligence for mischief, but the day he dared her to hack into the main database at her middle school... That was when she realized that there were things she could do that no one else was capable of. And that was also when she started fighting back against the cruel kids in her own special way. By the time she was 'graduating' from eighth grade, she had earned the nickname 'Ice Queen'. Not that she cared what the other kids thought of her; the way she saw it, if they saw it fit to play with fire, she was going to make sure they got burned. She had become more like herself in those two years, and her parents were relieved, believing that they had made the right choice when they decided to move to Chicago.
But tragedy struck the summer before Jenna's freshman year at Lumini High School. She was out shopping with Tilly, Felicia, Claire and Robyn when she got separated from them. In the five minutes it took her sisters and two cousins to figure out that she wasn't with them any more, she had been grabbed by a couple of high school seniors and roughly pushed into a waiting van. She reappeared in the same place she had disappeared from nearly two hours later, and though she refused to tell anyone what had happened, even her sisters, the four older girls could tell that something had changed in her in the two hours she had been missing. Jenna never said a word about what happened that day, but her parents had rushed her to the hospital when the girls got home and they saw the state she was in, and it was revealed that she had been raped multiple times. As a result, she had mentally shut down, reverting to the personality she had had for the four years before their move to Chicago.
Her parents and the rest of her extended family were devastated, but they were all afraid that Jenna would simply shut herself up in her room if they tried to pressure her into getting help, so they left well enough alone and tried to move on as best as they could. They thought she would never recover from the ordeal, so it was a pleasant surprise to everyone when she started dating Lorcan Furey a few months into her freshman year. The two made a cute couple, and from what her sisters and cousins saw, Lorcan seemed to have a soothing effect on her, though she still hardly ever smiled. They dated for almost a year, and then suddenly, they broke up. Jenna told her sisters and her parents that she was the one who broke up with him, when the truth is that Lorcan got what he wanted ( *cough* in her pants *cough* ) and then just dumped her. Looks like her sophomore year is starting on a sour note.
ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE;;Jenna reached up to touch the rose pinned in her hair for what was probably the tenth time since it had been placed there, only to have her hand slapped away. Huffing, she glared up at Nathaniel, who simply rolled his eyes and put the finishing touches on her makeup, then turned her towards thecharmedmirror. She gasped, startled by her own reflection. Wide blue eyes stared at her from beneath long, full lashes, the light dusting of eye shadow she wore contrasting perfectly with her dress. Her cheeks bore no blush, as Nathaniel said she looked prettier without it, and her lips carried only a touch of pale pink, to "accentuate her natural skin tone", as her cousin put it. Seriously, having a gay cousin was so much better than having an older sister or a female cousin sometimes. Nathaniel chuckled quietly, and Jenna flushed when she realized she had spoken her thoughts out loud. "Alright, all the time. Happy?" The smug grin he gave her as he pushed her out the door told her that he was. Gripping her wand, she Apparated, praying that just this once, she wouldn't end up a mess when she got to where she was going. Someone must have heard her prayer, as not a hair was out of place when she appeared in front of the Deviant Diner. All her practice was starting to pay off, it seemed.
Feeling as if her mouth was full of cotton, and the butterflies in her stomach going full force, she approached the doors of the restaurant, slipping her wand into the clutch gripped tight between her slender fingers. As she drew closer, a man dressed in a suit stepped forward and opened the door for her, bowing slightly as she passed. Murmuring a thank you, she was hard pressed not to gape at her surroundings. She hadn't been inside a place this nice in years, not since--oh Sweet Merlin. Jenna swallowed hard as her gaze landed on Bill. Her heart slammed against her ribcage, the look of awe that had appeared on her face when she had walked through the door rapidly mixing with surprise. There were other emotions there as well, but surprise was the most prominent, and the easiest to name. Taking a moment to gather herself, she drank in his appearance. He was wearing a suit, and a rose the same color as the one secured amidst her curls was perched on the lapel of his jacket. Thank goodness Natie had convinced her to wear a rose in her hair rather than a nymph's tear. "Bill..." She breathed his name, her heart jumping into her throat as she crossed the short distance between them. "You look--" Her breath hitched in her chest, her composure momentarily lost, and she had to take a few breaths before she could go on.
"You look absolutely dashing, Bill. Wie ein moderner ritter bei glänzenden rüstungen." Of course, knight in shining armor didn't even begin to cover Bill and how much he meant to her. Smiling brightly in an attempt to hid her nervousness (the Deviant Diner was a rather fancy restaurant, after all, and she had no idea what Bill had planned, seeing as it was almost her birthday), Jenna leaned forward and kissed his cheek, laying her hand on his arm to keep herself balanced - she had learned that lesson at the Palin's birthday party. Perhaps she lingered a bit longer than was necessary, drinking in Bill's scent and committing it to memory just like she did with every other moment they had shared together, but she could care less what other people thought. Her birthday was tomorrow, and she would do what she wanted tonight. Still smiling, Jenna pulled back and looped her arm through Bill's, fully aware of the fact that they had attracted the attention of several patrons in the restaurant. Though she would never call herself beautiful, she knew that she and Bill made a striking couple. Tightening her hold on his arm just slightly, she started down every female looking their way, her eyes glittering with dangerous possessiveness for just a split second, which was enough to dissuade any of them from staring for much longer.
Jenna wasn't possessive of Bill very often, but the beast that lived deep in her reared its head in an ugly way when she was. Glancing up at her boyfriend, she noticed that his eyebrow ring was gone, and giggling quietly, she reached up to touch the spot with her fingertips. "Don't forget it's not there, dear heart. You wouldn't want to poke yourself in the eye in front of all these... verächtliche faselhänse." She said quietly, a gentle smile curling her lips at the insult that only they could understand. The place may have been full of "contemptuous braggarts", but she was quite sure no one in the restaurant spoke German. "Now, shall we then? I mean, I don't mind keeping that judgmental hostess waiting a few more minutes, but it looks like she may be getting tired of pretending to be happy to be here." Her voice was still soft, so she knew no one besides Bill could hear what she was saying. She was full of it today, that much was for certain - maybe it was because she was excited about tomorrow being her birthday, or nervous about what was in store for the rest of the evening, but either way, she was a snarky little bugger tonight. The impish grin that was her trademark blossomed on her face as she glanced from Bill to the hostess. The woman looked a tad bit impatient, but Jenna didn't want to risk annoying her and getting kicked out.
